Our Packaging

Planthood was created to help improve the health of people and the planet. Research has shown that eating a plant-based diet is the most impactful thing we can do as individuals to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our ethos doesn't stop at our food, which is why we're proud that all our packaging is reusable, compostable or recyclable.

We also offer a return and re-use scheme so you can return your liners and ice packs back to us to re-use over and over again.

Cardboard outer box - home recyclable or compostable

Insulation liners - home recyclable or compostable

Brown kraft bags and paper - home recyclable or compostable

White paper pouches (nuts etc) - home recyclable

Tomato and mushroom punnets - home recyclable or compostable

Fresh veg bags (except herbs) - home recyclable

Fresh herb bags - (LDPE Code 4) recyclable where facilities exist (check local guidance)

Sauce pouches - (LDPE Code 4) recyclable where facilities exist (check local guidance)

Gel packs - reusable. Otherwise separate paper outer layer from plastic and pour water down the sink. Paper is home recyclable and plastic (LDPE Code 4) is recyclable where facilities exist.

Our Philosophy On Packaging Sustainability

Sustainability is extremely important to us at Planthood and we invest a significant amount of time and cost into using the most suitable materials for our products.

Ensuring the food arrives safely without damage or waste is our number one priority, as carbon cost of food waste can be up to 10x higher than the packaging the food is stored in.

As much of our packaging as possible is made from recycled card and papper, where this is able to effectively protect our food.

We haven't yet discovered an alternative to recyclable plastic for packaging liquids, that also keeps our sauces safe and fresh. We are constantly reviewing new sustainable materials and will switch to compostable sauce pouches for liquids as soon as the right material is available.
